Art and Chess
In what may a first for an Australian chess tournament, the Sydney International Open had an 'artist in residence'. Local Parramatta artist Sadami Konchi was a regular visitor to the event and used her time at the tournament to produce coloured sketches of a number of players. She has posted a number of the pictures on her blog, as well as describing her impressions of the tournament here. So impresses was tournament organiser Brian Jones with her work, he is even including a number of pictures in the next issue of Australasian Chess.
