While it is a little further away than Sydney, the 2010 Thailand Open is the third tournament in the Doeberl-SIO-Thailand series of events. The tournament got under way today, although the actual entries are lower than the registered entries, no doubt due to the political situation in the country.
Of the visitors to these shores, IM's Stefan Macak, Dinesh Sharma and Atanu Lahiri stopped of in Bangkok on their way home, while another 7 Australian players made the trip across.
So far 2 rounds have been played with top seed Nigel Short amongst those who have made it to 2/2. Full results can be found here.
