The 2022 O2C Doeberl Cup is only a few days away, so I thought I would dig up an interesting miniature from the past. White brought his queen out too early, and as a result saw it kicked all around the board.

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 e5 5. Nb5 a6 6. Nd6+ Bxd6 7. Qxd6 Qf6 8. Qd3 ( White has a number of choices in this position including 8. Qc7 ) ( 8. Qxf6 Nxf6 ) ( 8. Qd1 However the text move appears to be a novelty. ) 8... Nge7 9. g3? d5! 10. exd5 Bf5 Suddenly White finds himself in an awkward position. Attempts to wriggle out of difficulty prove unsuccesful. 11. Qc4 ( 11. Qd1 Nd4 12. Bd3 e4 13. Be2 e3! -+ ) 11... Nd4 12. Qa4+ ( 12. Na3 Rc8 13. Qa4+ Bd7 14. Qa5 Qf3 with a decisive attack. ) 12... Bd7 13. Qc4 Rc8 14. Qd3 Bf5 15. Qd1 Nxc2+ 16. Kd2 Be4 and White has had enough. 0-1
