It isn't quite the 100th anniversary of the founding of Canberra, (that is next year), but tomorrow is the centenary of the announcement of the winning design for Canberra. The winner was Walter Burley Griffin, assisted by his wife Marion Mahony Griffin.
As someone who has lived in Canberra most of his life, I have always appreciated the layout of the city, as well as the artistry of Burley Griffin's initial design. If you want to have a look at the original design, as well as some history behind the competition to design Canberra, then this link will help you.
