Sorry seems to be an easy word

Chess tournaments make me cranky. Although it may be that I'm cranky all the time, as GM Ian Rogers remarked "Apart from the extra swearing I can't tell the difference". But I was cheered up to receive not one but two apologies over issues to do with a couple of chess tournaments I was involved with.
In both instances it was a correction over things that were factually incorrect, but often in the heat of the argument people even refuse to correct simple misinformation. And in my case this is not helped by my often prickly manner in pointing these mistakes out to them ("arrogant and high handed" would be a good description of my demeanor), so I do appreciate it when people get past this.
So I thank them for their apology and I hope it makes me less cranky in my behaviour in the future.

** NB The second sentence of this post was changed to make clear who Ian Rogers was referring to (ie me)

Akobian and Gagunashvili appeared to have agreed a draw after only 12moves. Perhaps they should be apologising.

I think you would be much wiser to stop being arrogant and high-handed, among other things, in the first place.

hmm - I think Shaun was actually apologising for his behaviour as well? Or it seemed like it to me - maybe time for everyone to take a step back and try and get over it all and work together again?

An ironical statement if ever I've seen one. Denis used to be a perfect gentleman years ago before he fell in with the 'wrong sort' on those nasty BB's. A pity - it would be great to see him ditch his maligned cantankerous persona and get back to being more positive.

I have always found Shaun to be charming, warm, friendly and eager to chat, especially during chess tournaments. And this year's Doeberl was no different.

Did Dejan get a ridiculous 20% reduction in his prize money in the presentation of the Doeberl Cup? Please explain to everyone about this stupid rule. What is the incentive to for people who do not win prizes to stay back?
