This game was played in the final round of a recent Street Chess event. I'm not sure of the provenance of 8.Qd2 (due to a broken Chessbase database), but after move 11, White was well ahead. The only difficult question seemed to be the timing of the sacrifice on h6.

8.Qd2 is not the most popular move (Rc1 is) but is quite respectable, having been played by many top players including Korchnoi who appears to have introduced it in 1965 with the same plan of g4, h4 etc. The highest profile appearance was by Karpov in the 1985 second World Championship match vs Kasparov; the game was drawn and the move wasn’t repeated. Kasparov himself has played it, once in an earlier game (not WC) against Karpov, also drawn.
Thanks Ian. I fixed my reference database and found it has been played more times than I expected (I'd assumed it was some rare sideline that Harry had found). And as you said, it has been played at the very top levels of chess.
