Exciting times at the Australian Open Championship today when a player was caught using a 'hand held machine' in the toilets. The player, Eduard Naoumov, was taking part in the Under 1600 event and had been doing quite well up until this point starting with 5/5, although he lost in round 6, and today's round 7. Apart from the loss of the game, Naoumov was expelled from the tournament. He appealed this punishment, but the penalty was upheld by the appeals committee 3-0.
Further information on this case, including the score of today's game can be found here at The Closetgrandmaster Blog.

Moves 6-9, 13-16 and 19-24 were all the strongest moves according to Fritz 6.
Well, Anonymous, although it may indicate that you have suspicions in regard to this game, it is not proof.
In any event, whatever action the ACF, the NSWCA or possibly the NSWJCL, may take in regard to the arbiters report after the completion of the tournament, it will probably pale in comparison with the "frank, open and forthright" discussions between the parents and the child in question.
'Well, Anonymous, although it may indicate that you have suspicions in regard to this game, it is not proof.'
That is correct. I did not say that it is proof; I stated that 3 sequences of moves was recommended by Fritz.
There is more than one conclusion that can be drawn from this game - I leave it to the readers to decide.
How many discussions between associates( eg. brothers) on the state of a game in progress go unnoticed - This is another vague area often overlooked and very hard to prove cheating. What does it mean to cheat?
Getting casual advice from a stronger friend whispering too you. Is this cheating? How do you prove verbal cheating - use a voice recorder. Come on. So now it is only electronic cheating that is serious. What a joke.
To the anon posters, care to put your name to your posts so we know who you are.
"Getting casual advice from a stronger friend whispering to you. Is this cheating?"
It certainly is.
Correction to above -
This game against Emma Guo doesn't prove anything.
However, it may be prudent to contact Emma and ask her whether she recalls her opponent taking frequent bathroom breaks during the game.
If so, maybe further investigation would be merited.

Obviously Garvin, he/she wouldn't have made the post anonymously if they had wanted to put their name to it!
