Congratulations Closet Grandmaster

Congratulations to the ClosetGrandmaster for winning the 2009 CJS Purdy Medal, awarded by the Australian Chess Federation for Journalist of the Year. I suspect that receiving the award from the ACF will be extra satisfying for TCG, given the recent comments from ACF officials about this post on his blog.
Other awards were Steiner Medal (Player of the Year): GM Zong Yuan Zhao
Koshnitsky Medal (for Chess Administration): Dr Charles Zworestine

(NB: I was on the voting panel for the Purdy Medal)

Shaun writes: "I suspect that receiving the award from the ACF will be extra satisfying for TCG, given the recent comments from ACF officials about this post on his blog."

I am curious about which comments from which officials Shaun might consider to justify the use of the plural above in the suggestion that the award would be "extra satisfying". Obviously Denis Jessop (posting in a personal capacity only) had a significant go at Amiel but what other "ACF officials" does Shaun consider to have criticised Amiel's post, as distinct from criticising the Parr comments reported therein?

I certainly did not criticise Amiel's post, although I did express the view that Bill's reply should be given equal prominence, which subsequently happened.

(NB I was also on the voting panel.)

I, too, am mystified as, once the point was made, Amiel clearly had a second think and toned down his comments commendably thus showing much more maturity than some would show in a similar situation.

There have been few occasions where Amiel has dared to step on the toes of the ACF powers that be. Indeed, on the rare occasions when he has, it was at those times he proved himself to be a top notch chess journalist.

Fullest congratulations to Amiel (The Closet Grandmaster) on winning this award.
